Platanus(plane) — Oriental Plane
Platnus orientalis
An erect branching tree reaching 35m in height with a fast growth rate. Leaves are light green, palmate, deeply divided and lobed. Prefers cool deep soil. Suited to large parks and gardens.
Platanus(plane) — London Plane
Platanus acerifolia
A large tree. If left will grow to a height of 30-50m. The leaves are lobed and approximately 20cm long, dark green on top and lighter beneath. Lobes are not deep like the Oriental Plane. Flowers are very small. Suited to large parks and gardens.
