Acer(maple) — Japanese Red Maple
Acer palmatum 'atropurpureum'
A lovely small (10x3m) deciduous tree which forms a dense rounded shape. Has spectacular foliage colour throughout the year ranging from deep purple in Spring, lightening off in Summer and darkening to scarlet in Autumn. Bark is purple/grey and flowers are inconspicuous. Slow to moderate growing Japanese Red Maples thrive in moist, drained soils and require a protected position as wind and hot weather damages leaves. This tree is an excellent size for landscaping in Urban areas or as a specimen tree.
Acer(maple) — Hedge Maple
Acer campestre
A slow growing deciduous tree which reaches approximately 12m high. It forms a dense rounded crown with greyish black bark bearing ridges. Its leaves are lobed/obruse which turn from dull green to yellow in Autumn. In Spring small yellow green blooms are seen. Hedge maple are very adaptable to varying soil conditions. Moist well drained soil and full to part sun is ideal. Can tolerate drought to very acid/alkaline soils.This tree has a shallow root system which makes it ideal for hedges and borders in residential zones.

Smaller sized deciduous tree (13x10m) which produces a dazzling display of year round colour, ranging from deep green to pinkish reds in Spring and golden in Autumn. Its green/brown bark is eye catching being striped white. Red Snake Bark maple has a spreading habit and delicate branches. Is ideal for small gardens.
Acer(maple) — Norway Maple
Acer plantanoides
Tall rapidly growing deciduous tree reaching 30m. Foliage progresses through yellow and orange/red tones in Autumn. Flowers are yellowish/green in Spring. Bark is brown/grey. Norway Maple is a broadly spreading columnar tree which thrives in harsh conditions. Makes a wonderful shade tree in landscaping due to its thick canopy.
Acer(maple) — Mitchelldean Maple
Acer rubrum
A medium sized deciduous tree which is extremely popular for its brilliant Autumn colour and shape. The foliage turns from shiny green to Crimson in Autumn. Its grey bark is smooth and darkens with age whilst small red flowers appear in individual clusters over late Winter and early Spring.This is a vigorous growing tree which is suited to a range of conditions and tolerates full sun to part shade. A spectacular addition to any garden or park.
