Olive — Kalamata

Olea Europaea 'Kalamata'

The Kalamata has an individual look compared to other olive varieties, as its foliage is softer, larger and flatter. Produces shiny elongated and slightly bent to one side black-purple fruit which can be processed for eating or oil. While the growth rate is slow they are a strong long lasting evergreen tree with a dense canopy. The Kalamata are considered the best black olive cultivar for processing.

Verdale is suitable for both oil and pickling. The fruit is medium to large in size, green and turns black when ripe. Growing 3-4m tall Verdale have spreading silvery green, evergreen foliage. Hot summers and cold winters are ideal conditions.

Can stand extremely high temperatures. Foliage is bright green on top and grey yellow beneath with evergreen leaves. A vigorous tree producing large black table olives. Matures April to May. Along with being an easy tree to harvest it is also a very good pollinator.

Olive — Picholine

Olea Europaea 'Picholine'

This variety adapts easily to a variety of climates and soils with notable resistance to peacock spot and olive fly. It produces a heavy regular crop of light green elongated table olives or black olives for oil production. Partially self fertile and pollinators Leccino and Manzanillo can be used. Picoline has an open shaped evergreen crown and an upright growing habit.
