Pear — Kosui NASHI
Kosui produces reliable crops and require thinning. Needs 600 chilling hours. Fruit is medium sized, flat/round and has green/brown skin partially russetted with lenticles. Its sweet white flesh has a high sugar and low acid content.
Maturity: matures approximately mid February before 20th Century
Pear — Bartlett
Upright medium growing tree which produces heavy crops of medium to large fruit. Its pale green skin yellows upon maturity. Bartlett has white crunchy buttery sweet flesh which stores well.
Maturity: Approximately January/February, 28 days before Packham
Pear — Mirrandino Rosso - Children's Pear
This small ovate/pyriform pear produces gren/yellow fruit with a red blush on one side. Has a sweet refreshing flavour and white flesh. Matures with Bartlett in late January although trees can produce without a pollinator (Packhams Triumph is suitable.) Is a prolific bearer. Suited to a smaller niche market
Maturity: late maturity approximately, same as Bartlett
Pear — 20th Century / Nijisseiki NASHI
This heavy cropping tree has a moderate growth rate and requires thinning. Matures during late February following Kosiu. Fruit is yellow/green, medium to large, round and covered with lenticels. Its white flesh is crisp and moderately sweet. 20th Century store well and are partially self fertile however other pears are useful pollinators
Pear — Sensation
Sensation is a prolific bearer maturing during mid February. Fruit is medium to large, ovate, pyriform and red in colour which brightens on maturity with a yellow under-colour.
Maturity: approximately mid February, 25 days before Packham Triumph
