Rootstock — Mazzard or sometimes known as F12
Released in 1969 the F12 /Mazzard is a very vigorous stock suited to many sweet and sour cherries. Grown under a wider range of conditions but does not cope well in extremely wet areas. Has moderate resistance to diseases such as bacterial canker.
Rootstock — Flying Dragon
A dwarfing citrus rootstock which is slow growing. It crops well producing top quality fruit with high sugar and acid levels. Flying Dragon is suitable to numerous soils especially fertile sandy loams. Trees are cold hardy, but not tolerant of frost damage. Resistant to nematodes and root fungi.
Rootstock — Trifoliata
A great rootstock compatible with Oranges and Mandarins. Shows a fantastic resistance to nematodes, phytophthora and tristeza virus. Trifoliata will restrict growth of trees and can be planted at high density. They have a shallow fibrous root system and therefore prefer cooler areas on clay/loam soils. (Low drought tolerance). They require good draining soil with little alkaline. Generally are slower growing but are favoured in replant zones. Superior quality fruit is produced on this stock.
Rootstock — Cleopatra Mandarine or Cleo
Is tolerant of tristeza and cooler condtions however, it is less tolerant to alkaline soils. Trees have average protection against rots, exocortis, psorosis and cachexia. They do not perform well in sand or clay soils but grow well in loams. Overall Cleo produces a good quality tree with moderate vigour and medium root distribution.
Rootstock — Volkameriana
A rootstock for lemons. Is very similar to Rough Lemon, only Volkameriana yields lower and has stronger Phytophthora resistance. Trees grow large and are healthy but fruit quality isn't as good. Quite cold hardy, vigorous.
