Rootstock — Nic 8®
Is a subclone of M9 from Belgium. Nic 8 is the least vigorous of the Nicolai varieties. Similar to FL56
Rootstock — Nic 19®
A sub clone of M9 rootstock from Belgium. Has medium vigour and crops heavily. Is a similar size to M9 rootstock
Rootstock — Zutano
From the Mexican race of avocado. Is hardy and more tolerant to cold conditions than other stocks. Frost will damage flowers. Has green/yellow skin. Trees such as Zutano are more susceptible to anthracnose and insect attack having a thinner skin. Good cropper. Zutano produces large pear shaped fruit with fibrous light green flesh. Mild flavour and easy to peel. Here at the nursery we graft the Hass variety onto the Zutano rootstock.
Rootstock — Krymsk TM 5 (VSL-2 cv.)
Is similar in size to GisalA 6 and dwarfing being 90% of Mazzard. Krymsk 5 does sucker and is compatable with Prunus avium and Prunus cerus varieties. Its proven tolerant to cold, drought and wet soils. Produces heavy crops more so than Mahaleb, Mazzard and Colt. Krymsk 5 holds better root systems than GiselA 6, therefore copes better with heat, overwatering and heavy crop loads. Is grower friendly but virus sensitive especially when younger.
Rootstock — Maxma 14
Maxma 14 is a cross between Mazzard and Mahaleb. Its very popular in Europe being compatible with many cherry varieties and produces heavy crops. Is tolerant to wet regions and shows resistance to iron chlorosis. Maxma 14 is up to 20/25% more dwarfing than Mahaleb.
