English Horse Chestnut - Aesculus hippocastanum
Large (36m) oval shaped tree which is not related to the fruiting Chestnut (castanea genus).The fruit forms on panicles in a captule which contains glossy seeds or 'horse chestnuts'. Spring sees a magnificent array of white blooms on long panicles with 20 to 50 flowers on each. Suitable to plant in a wide range of conditions. This tree is excellent for parks where its eye-catching flowers can be appreciated.
