A large, quick growing tree with an upright open dense crown. Bark is smooth grey/green on young branches, darkening with maturity and developing shallow ridges which are smooth surfaced. Underbark is red. During Spring its brown flowers are inconspicuous but Autumn sees a showy foliage display of green to red/browns.
