Medium sized rounded deciduous woody shrub. Highly fragrant double pure white flowers are bourne on pyramidal shaped panicles. Willmott's heart shaped leaves are green and glabrous. Outstanding shrub having delicate blooms which look exquisite in any garden.

Plant information

Origin: Public variety.

Status: Public.

Bloom period: Spring.

Tree shape: Rounded woody shrub.

Flower: Pyramidal terminals. Panicles up to 12cm with double white flowers. Individual flowers have 3 sets of 4 petals. Highly fragrant.

Height: 3m.

Width: 2m.

Leaf shape: Heart shaped ovate and up to 12cm.

Leaf colour: Deciduous and green.

Growing conditions: Lilacs grow well in cooler areas. They prefer a sunny position in a drained rich soil. Dislike acidic soils. Prune. Remove any dead flower heads. Maintain water through dry spells. Plant with the graft union below ground level.

 

Disease: Suffers from powdery mildew and lilac blight. Pests include borers, leaf miner and scale.
