Medium sized (2x2m) open growing woody deciduous shrub. Blooms profusely with small yellow/creamy white 4 petaled flowers with noticable yellow stamens in mid Spring. Blooms darken to gold with age. This vigorous shrub has heart shaped bluish/green leaves. Primrose is known for its beautiful coloured flowers which have a strong scent. Individual petals on the flower actually twist sideways which look quite unique. Perfect for small gardens or hedging.

Origin: Public variety.

Flower: Single yellow/creamy white 4 petals which twist sideways. Has yellow stamens with strong scent. Blooms profusely. Blooms turn darker with age.

Leaf colour: Bluish/green deciduous ovate heart shaped leaves. Glabrous 10-12cm long.

Growing conditions: Lilacs grow well in cooler climates. They prefer a sunny position in drained rich soil. They dislike acidic soils. Prune. Remove any dead flower heads. Maintain water through dry spells. Susceptible to frost. Plant graft union below ground.

 

Disease: Suffers from powdery mildew and lilac blight. Pests include borers, leaf miner and scale.
