A deciduous small 3x2m hardy shrub. Exquisite double mauve/blue lightly scented flowers which appear in spikes from mid Spring. Petals are unique have a 'curly' appearance. Leaves are ovate and glabrous. Olivier De Serres are spectacular when in flower. Ideal for small gardens.

Flower: Double large, mauve/blue flowers on large spikes. Petals are curly with faint fragrance.

Leaf colour: Deciduous light green.
Growing conditions: Hardy specimen suits cooler areas. Prefers a sunny position in drained rich soil. Dislike acidic soils. Prune. Remove dead flower heads. Maintain water through dry spells. Younger shrubs are susceptible to frost. Plant graft union below ground level.
Disease: Suffers from powdery mildew and lilac blight. Pests include borers, leaf miner and scale.
