Fruit information
Maturity: Early April / late March approximately.
Fruit size: Large.
Skin: Outer shell is described as a paper shell.
Flesh colour: Good quality plump kernel.
Storage period: Lasts months in shell in a cool dark place. Once opened store in an airtight container.
Yield: Heavy bearer.

Flower: White/ pink flowers, 3-5cm diameter in either singles or pairs.
Height: Medium sized decidious tree up to 10m.
Width: Has a spreading open canopy.
Roots: Will develop root rot in water logged soils.
Leaf shape: Leaves have fine serrated margins with acute tips, lanceolate, long acuminate.
Growing conditions: Almonds require rich deep well drained loamy soils with mild Winters and drier Summers and are quite drought resistant.
Cultivation notes: Plant in a sunny position as early Spring frosts damage buds. Prune annually thinning out and removing any dead branches in Winter before any new growth appears.
Harvest notes: Pick when fruit splits
Comments: Birds are a problem in the home garden, attacking at many stages of growth. Bees assist in pollination.
