Similar to the Newhall USA and Navelina, the Spanish Newhall is a small tree which produces rich juicy fruit of varying size. It is well suited to the Southern Australian climate.

Fruit information
Maturity: Early April to July approximately.
Fruit size: Medium to large.
Fruit shape: Large, internal navel, oval/oblong.
Skin: Bright orange and thin rind.
Flesh colour: Orange flesh which reddens as it ripens.
Texture: Not as juicy as Washington Navel. Seedless.
Flavour: Excellent flavour but not as rich as Washington.
Seed or stone: Seeded.
Storage: Still being assessed. Not good for export due to shape.
Yield: Less vigorous than Washington Navel, still prolific early cropping.

Leaf colour: Quite dark and dense.
Growing conditions: Prefers subtropical and temperate climate. Requires a lot of sun, warmth and water.

Comments: Intolerant of freezing weather.
