Popular variety which produces attractive medium sized plump nuts with a soft outer shell. Matures late March and pollinates well with Fritz Almond. A good nut which is most suited to roasting.

Fruit information
Maturity: Approximately late March.
Fruit size: Medium.
Skin: Soft outer shell (kernel).
Flesh colour: Attractive plump kernels.
Storage period: Lasts for months in shell in a cool dark place. Once almonds are opened store in an airtight container.

Bloom period: Spring (late).
Blossom: Flowers are white of pink 3-5cm in diameter, either single or in pairs.
Height: Small to medium sized decidious tree up to 10m.
Width: Has a spreading open canopy.
Roots: Will develop root rot if in water logged soils.
Leaf shape: Leaves have fine serrated margins with acute tips, lanceolate, long acuminate.
Growing conditions: Almonds require rich deep well drained loamy soils with mild Winters and drier Summers and are quite drought resistant. Plant in a sheltered sunny position as early Spring frosts damage buds.
Cultivation notes: Prune annually thinning out and removing any dead branches in Winter before any new growth appears. Fertilize in Spring and late Summer and keep Almonds mulched.
Harvest notes: Pick when fruit splits
Comments: Birds are a problem in the home garden , attacking at many stages of growth
