Extremely popular upright, moderately vigorous growing tree. Produces medium to large light green fruit. An all round pear which can be eaten fresh, baked, poached, dried and suitable for preserving.

Fruit information

Maturity: approximately late February, mid season.

Fruit size: Medium to large.

Fruit shape: Oblong/ovate, pyriform.

Skin: Light green yellowing when mature.

Flesh colour: White.

Texture: Firm.

Flavour: Sweet, juicy.

Storage: stores well.

Chill: High chill.

Yield: very productive.

Pollinators: Beurre Bosc, Hosui nashi, Josephine, Winter Nellis.

Flower: showy white flowers.

Growth rate: moderate to vigorous.

Growing conditions: Prefers deep heavy soils (loam) which are well drained. dislikes very alkaline soils. Plant in a sunny protected site as blooms are prone to frost damage.

 

Disease: Prone to blight under warmer wet Spring conditions.

Cultivation notes: Prune off dead wood during Winter.
