A primarily ornamental citrus, the Calamondin is similar to a small ornamental. The fruit is often dried and preserved and the trees make great pot plants.

Maturity: Spring.
Fruit size: 25-35mm although can grow larger.
Fruit shape: Round, oblate.
Skin: Loose skin and bright orange when ripe. Skin is quite sweet with many oil glands.
Flesh colour: Orange.
Texture: 9-10 segments.
Flavour: Used for marmalades as it lacks sweet flesh. Highly acidic.
Seed or stone: Seeded.
Storage: Can be coolstored.
Storage period: Fruit is generally preserved.

Tree shape: Erect and cylindrical. Densely branched and slightly thorny.
Flower: Oblong and pure white.
Height: Shrub tree 3-6m high approximately.

Growing conditions: Frost sensitive. Needs good drainage and full sun.
Disease: can suffer from fruit fly.
