Marisol Mandarin - Citrus reticulata 'Marisol'

A Clementine mandarin, the Marisol is a late maturing fruit. Other varieties are often favoured however, the Marisol is still very sweet with an easy peel skin.

Fruit information

Maturity: approximately late April.

Fruit size: Small to medium.

Fruit shape: Round but slightly flattened.

Skin: Easily peeled. Pebbly external rind with deep orange colour.

Flesh colour: Bright orange.

Texture: Sometimes seedless.

Flavour: Sweet, but not the sweetest available.

Seed or stone: Shows seedlessness.

Storage: Good for export.

Storage period: Stores well.

Yield: Quite productive.

Origin: Public variety.

Status: Public.

Pollinators: Self fertile.

Growth rate: Not very vigorous, tends to be slow growing.

Height: Up to 4m approximately.

Growing conditions: Prefers full sun and well drained soil.

 

Harvest notes: Ripens internally before externally therefore degreening is needed.

Comments: Granulation can be a problem.
