A vigorous growing regular heavy cropping tree which will require thinning. Produces brilliant orange red round fruit which is astringent. Fruit needs to be eaten when flesh becomes soft. Has a poor shelf life. Eat fresh or use in salads.

Fruit shape: Flat, round with 'square' sides.
Skin: Orange/red.

Flavour: Sweet and soft.

Growing conditions: Prefers full sun and sheltered ,well drained deep, sandy loam or loam soils. Tolerates slightly acid soils and warmer weather although does require good watering over the growing season.
Disease: Suffers from scale, crown gall and dieback. Pests - Two spotted mite, Mealy bugs, fruit fly, thrips, birds and light brown apple moth.
Comments: This is an attractive tree in Spring with its orange/red leaves which drop off to reveal the brightly coloured fruit on bare branches.
