Oroval Mandarin - Citrus reticulata 'Oroval'

Originating as a mutation of Fina Clementine this tree produces juicy fruit that needs to be picked at maturity. Internal quality deteriorates quickly once maturity is reached.

Fruit information

Maturity: Early season, March to June.

Fruit size: Slightly larger than others.

Fruit shape: Round.

Skin: Easy to peel. Pebbly exterior. Deep orange colour with less exterior colouration that other clementines.

Flesh type: Melting.

Flesh colour: Bright orange.

Texture: Can be seedless. Tender.

Flavour: High juice content and slightly aciduous.

Seed or stone: Shows seedlessness.

Storage: Stores well once picked for Fresh and Domestic export.

Storage period: 2-3 weeks after picking.

Growth rate: Vigorous and good development.

Height: 4m approximately.

 

Harvest notes: Degreening is necessary in some areas. Clipping is essential. Granulation prior to maturity can be a problem. Spicy aroma.

Comments: Can be quite thorny but this disappears over time. Good for growing in a compact area.
