The Weikiwa is a cross between a tangelo and grapefruit. It is also known as the Pink Tangelo or Lavender Gem. This fruit is popular due to the fruit being very similar to Grapefruit

Fruit information

Maturity: January.

Fruit size: Similar size to grapefruit.

Fruit shape: Round, spherical - obovate.

Skin: Yellow, pink blushed. medium to thick rind.

Flesh colour: Pink.

Texture: Juicy and easily separates into 12 segments.

Flavour: Delicious and very juicy, sweet with grapefruit tangelo flavour.

Storage: Cold storage.

Storage period: Several weeks up to maximum 3.

Yield: Not vigorous but very productive.

Origin: Public variety.

Status: PUBLIC.

Pollinators: Self fertile.

Tree shape: Bushy.

Height: Approximately 15 feet.

 

Cultivation notes: Hybrid of unknown grapefruit and Sampson Tangelo.
