Originating in Australia, this fruit is considered a sour orange-pummelo hybrid. Grown for use in marmalades or as an ornamental tree, this is a great addition as it is a hardy and beautiful tree.

Fruit information

Maturity: Early January to March approximately.

Fruit shape: Round.

Skin: Very smooth rind which is reddish/orange. Quite thick.

Flesh colour: Reddish/orange.

Texture: Has seeds.

Flavour: Tart flavour, very rarely eaten flesh.

Seed or stone: Seeded.

Status: PUBLIC.

Pollinators: Self fertile.

Tree shape: Evergreen and thorny.

Growth rate: Vigorous and hardy.

Height: Between 3-6m approximately.

Growing conditions: Prefers full sun and excellent drainage.

 

Cultivation notes: Requires lower heat requirement.

Harvest notes: Ripens early.

Comments: Young branches exhibit dark brown bark streaks. Grown for marmalade.
