Valencia Orange - Citrus sinensis 'Valencia'

A very popular variety or orange with juicy, full bodied fruit. Well suited to the Australian climate it is abundant during the Summer months. This fruit is susceptible to regreening.

Fruit information

Maturity: Matures approximately November to February.

Fruit size: 7-8cm approximately. Medium to large heavy fruit.

Fruit shape: Round, ovate.

Skin: Thin easy to peel, pale orange skin with a greenish tinge. Pebbly rind.

Flesh colour: Orange.

Texture: 0-6 seeds per fruit approximately.

Flavour: Succulent, sweet and high in juicy content. Good balance between sweet and tart.

Seed or stone: Seeded.

Storage: Keeps well at room temperature.

Storage period: Several weeks.

Yield: Tends toward alternate bearing.

Blossom: Usually has 2 crops after the bloom - the old and the new.

Harvest notes: Hangs on the tree longer than any other orange - even up to a year.

Comments: Fruit is sweetest when there is a green tinge - does regreen which makes a protective barrier. Desirable for domestic and export market.
