A highly distinctive orange with crimson coloured skin and sweet fruit.There are three types of Blood orange - Tarocco, Snguinello and the Moro which ripen in late Winter to early Spring.

Fruit information

Maturity: Late Winter to early Spring.

Fruit size: Smaller than average.

Fruit shape: Round.

Skin: Crimson 'blood' coloured skin. Usually pitted. Orange at maturity with a light pink blush.

Flesh colour: Red.

Flavour: Juicy and sweet, very pleasant flavour.

Seed or stone: Seeded.

Storage: Cold storage.

Storage period: Several months.

Yield: Very productive, 3 or more in clusters.

Origin: Public variety.

Status: PUBLIC.

Pollinators: Self fertile.

Tree shape: Spreading and round topped.

Flower: Highly fragrant white Spring blossom.

Height: Small 3-6m approximately.

Leaf colour: shiny deep green foliage.

Growing conditions: Requires full sun and good drainage. Try to keep from extreme weather.

 

Harvest notes: Fruit takes 10-12 months to turn orange.

Comments: Can be grown in pots.
