The Kara mandarin is a cross between King and Satsuma mandarins and produces easy to peel, sweet fruit. It is a late maturer and it prefers warm, coastal areas.

Maturity: Late season, October to December.

Fruit size: Medium to large.

Fruit shape: Oval.

Skin: Easy to peel. Thin skinned. Deep orange/yellow rind.

Flesh colour: Deep orange.

Texture: Some seeds. 10-12 segments.

Flavour: Rich, tart-sweet flavour. very tender and juicy.

Seed or stone: Seeded.

Storage: Coolstores.

Storage period: Requires care when shipped.

Yield: Slightly tended to alternate bearing.
