Oro Blanco Grapefruit - Citrus paradisi ' Oro Blanco'

Oro Blanco is sometimes known as Sweetie, but it the same product. The Oro Blanco grapefruit is a hybrid between a grapefruit and a pummelo. The fruit is very sweet, much more than other grapefruit. Very few seeds and easy to peel.

Fruit information

Maturity: Spring through to June.

Fruit size: Large, up to 15 cm approximately.

Fruit shape: Round, slightly flattened.

Skin: Thick skinned, green in the early season, develops to a golden yellow.

Flesh colour: White.

Texture: Nearly seedless.

Flavour: Sweet and lacks typical grapefruit bitterness.

Seed or stone: Seeded.

Storage: cold storage.

Storage period: 3 weeks approximately.

Status: PUBLIC.

Pollinators: Self fertile.

Blossom: huge fragrant blossom.

Flower: white.

Leaf colour: evergreen and aromatic.

Growing conditions: Prefers coastal areas with low Summer heat. Full sun. Average water needs.

 

Harvest notes: Holds well on tree.

Comments: Fruit flavour is inconsistent in young trees.
