Eureka Lemon - Citrus limon 'Eureka'

A traditional lemon which is the most widely planted within Australia. It produces large seedless fruit and is available to crop throughout the majority of the year.

Fruit information

Maturity: Throughout the year but in abundance in Winter.

Fruit size: Large fruit 160-180grams.

Fruit shape: Elliptical to oblong with short neck and medium nipple.

Skin: Medium to thick yellow skin at maturity. Ridges on surface and quite rough.

Flesh colour: Greenish yellow.

Texture: Generally seedless.

Flavour: High juice and acid levels.

Storage: keeps well in cold storage.

Storage period: harvest July/Aug and stored until Dec/Jan.

Yield: high yield.

Origin: Public variety.

Status: PUBLIC.

Pollinators: Self fertile.

Tree shape: Open tree and nearly thornless.

Flower: blossom is white.

Height: medium size, can grow tall up to 4m approximately.

Width: 3m approximately.

Leaf shape: sparse foliage. Evergreen. Aromatic and very glossy.

Growing conditions: Regular pruning promotes a bushier tree. Likes full sun. Needs average water.

 

Disease: Leaf miner is a problem in young trees. Coastal area suffer from citrus scab, melanose, broad mites and bud mites.

Harvest notes: Fruit becomes large and puffy 2 to 3 months after maturity.

Comments: Tendancy to fruit in terminal clusters. Suitable for pots.
