This citrus grows well producing juicy, acidic fruit with many seeds. Grown in warm humid areas this lime will flourish.

Fruit information

Maturity: January onwards, not as many fruit in the colder months.

Fruit size: Smaller than the Tahitian, small to medium fruit.

Fruit shape: Round.

Skin: Green to light yellow when ripe Peel is thin and smooth.

Flesh colour: Light greenish/yellow.

Texture: Numerous seeds 10-122 segments.

Flavour: Sharper flavour- juicy and acidic. Strong aroma.

Seed or stone: Seeded.

Storage: Cool store.

Storage period: 2-3 weeks shelf life if kept cool and dry. Pick before fully ripe.

Yield: Heavy yield from January to May, and light after. Not as vigorous as Tahitian.

Bloom period: Flowers May to September.

Tree shape: Trunk rarely grows straight. Evergreen.

Flower: Yellowish white with a purplish tinge on the edge..

Leaf shape: Elliptical 2.5 to 9cm in length, branches are irregular and many small sharp thorns.

Growing conditions: Grows best in tropical, frost free areas. Needs good drainage..

 

Disease: In warm humid areas where there is excessive rainfall they may be at risk of fungus diseases. Few pests.

Harvest notes: Generally crops throughout the years and breaks in Spring.

Comments: Generally takes 2 years for first crop.
